Apethorpe Palace – Peterborough, July 2014

This Grade 1 listed Jacobean Hunting lodge was a favourite haunt of James I and Queen Elizabeth. It has some of the finest old English ceilings and decorative plasterwork in the country and we felt extremely privileged to have worked on this remarkable building.

Whilst under the tenureship of English Heritage we were employed by various contractors to carry out extensive historical plaster repair works.

This consisted of lath and 3-coat lime plaster to ceiling and walls, running Solid in-situ cornicing, reinstating decorative windows and door surrounds and the manufacturing of a large plaster wall panelling.

As well as the complete make over of the White Lady hall and it’s stairs and landing. The beautiful floral designs in this area meant the team had to create hand-modelled works to reproduce the floral drops and reinstate the many different enrichments.
