Dating from 1614 this Grade 1 listed, oaked timber framed building in Market Harborough underwent a major renovation in 2013 by the main contractor WW Browns.
The challenge with this project was to give the building a breathable render that would withstand the movement of the timber structures but still be capable of standing up to the weather and heavy traffic.
To achieve these goals the team had to protect the original oak timbers and supply and fix new soft wood larch laths. Then the building had to have 2-3 coat lime render applied to match the existing render whilst allowing a slight shadow gap to aid the possible movement of the structure. Finally, the original cast decorative panels had extensive repairs and new panels reinstated to match the originals.
